CALEDONIA, Ont. _ Three people are dead and five others are in hospital following a crash on Wednesday night on a rural road near Caledonia, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police said a passenger van carrying seven people and a car collided shortly after 9 p.m. on Highway 6.
The lone person in the car, a 21-year-old man, died in the crash along with two girls from the van aged 12 and 14.
A 27-year-old man driving the van and four other young people from that vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said no names would be released until relatives were notified and said it was too early to speculate on the cause of the collision.
All of the victims are from First Nations communities in the region.
The OPP said the highway at the accident site (between 4th and 5th Line) was reopened at about 5 a.m.
